Morbidly Beautiful’s EIC, The Angry Princess (Stephanie Malone) is interviewed as part of the “House of Tortured Souls” Women in Horror Spotlight Series.

I was beyond honored to be interviewed for House of Tortured Souls (HoTS) by Morbidly Beautiful and HoTS contributor Monster Dugan (Donovan Smith), as part of their Women in Horror Spotlight Series. As editor-in-chief for Morbidly Beautiful, Monster gave me the opportunity to talk about why I founded the site, what Women in Horror Month means to me and to the site, my love of horror and the horror community, where the name Morbidly Beautiful comes from, what I see as the evolution of women in horror and so much more.

I also had the chance to talk about some of my horror heroes and why I’m so proud that this site does so much to support Women in Horror Month each year:

“Once thing I definitely want to say is that I’m so incredibly proud that this is a genre that does tend to give a damn. We most certainly need a Women in Film Month, as the problem of under representation is much broader than horror. I know some people find it strange that we have this month dedicated to such a niche portion of entertainment as a whole. But that’s because there are passionate activists like Hannah Neurotica and the Soska Sisters who are at the forefront of change and driving the conversation in a way no one else is. I am beyond honored to be a very small part of helping champion this cause. And it’s been so heartening to see the growing support and recognition for this important event throughout the community.”

It was such a pleasure to take part in this interview, and Monster asked so many thoughtful and interesting questions. It meant the world to me to have had the opportunity to talk about issues so near and dear to my heart. I hope you’ll take some time to check it out and learn more about the passion and love that drives this site, and I hope you enjoy reading this interview as much as I enjoyed giving it!
